Nick Donker took out the award for the best player of the T20 series, which kicked off the season in late 2016.
Read was one of many players honoured on the night with Archie MacPherson showing himself to be the star with the blade while Read was the top bowler in the competition. Read starred with the ball – and often the bat – for the Western Bulls in the Bell & Moir T40 competition this season taking them to the finals series before going out to Panthers last weekend. Read took out the Mount Isa Cricket Association player of the year at the association’s awards at the Island Bowling Club on Saturday night. Lewis Read came to Mount Isa last year to help Mount Isa City Council work with local sports but now Read can hold his head up high for sporting achievements of his own.
